Democracy Week

Democracy will be sustained and uplifted by the community of people who step forward and support it. Recurring support helps us plan ahead and build momentum, but however you want to support, it’s much appreciated.

Democracy Week is fiscally sponsored by the CalDEC.org – the California Doughnut Economics Coalition, a registered 501(c)(3). That’s what will show up on your credit card statement. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. All work done under this effort will comply with 501c3 regulations for civic, political, and democracy work. If you want to donate via a DAF or in some other way, or have other questions, please email partner@democracyweek.net.

Where it goes

We’re a small operation organizing the the Democracy Weeks, building a framework to make it easier to work with others to launch them across the US, plus the Accelerator program. The costs are unglamorous, and we’re not aiming to get rich off this, just sustain and grow this effort to have the best impact we can.

Rooms and food

Venue costs, chairs, coffee, flyers, food. The simple things that can help an organizer put on a great event.

Making it work

Facilitation, accessibility, travel stipends, tech/SaaS expenses, marketing, and coordination that can help make these events a success for all the participating organizations.

The accelerator

Free to join and no equity taken, providing mentorship, connections, opportunities, and support for people building the next round of civic tools. If we can fundraise for it, we also want to provide grants/loans to participating startups/organizations, and have a values-grounded venture/equity component as well.

Other ways to give and get involved

Money is one to support, and there are others. Organizations sponsoring the week, or anyone considering a larger gift, a donor-advised fund, or an in-kind contribution like a venue, catering, or printing, please get in touch and we’ll work it out together.

And if you’d rather give time than money, there are other great ways to get involved. 🙌
