We have an incredibly important election coming up on November 3, 2026 … and our democracy is one of the key issues on the ballot.
And our democracy needs more care and attention well beyond and outside of elections as well.
We’re a cross-partisan group inviting people and organizations from across the political spectrum to connect, discuss in good faith, and take action to innovate and build the American democratic republic we all want to live in.
Democracy Week is a decentralized set of events, hosted by whoever wants to host them, kickstarting alongside Tech Week in both LA and SF to help foster more discussions around how tech can help boost our democracy … and not weaken it.
There are serious things we need to talk about and work on, and we also want to make this whole democracy thing more fun. Let’s work to bring the change we want, and bring the real party into politics.

We’re organizing Democracy Week alongside and interwoven with Tech Week to open up more conversations about the links between tech, AI, venture capital, democracy, and the kind of future we’re building. Not every Democracy Week event needs to be tech related. The ones that are, we encourage to cross-post on the Tech Week calendar.

Democracy Week is decentralized, and we’re working to bring joy and energy to the democracy movement. People and organizations bring their own events, in whatever format works for them, and we help you reach new audiences, collaborate with other organizers, and boost our collective impact.
We think democracy efforts should be both serious, and seriously fun, so we especially encourage events that intertwine music, arts, food, good times, and civic action. Anyone want to pull together a constitutional comedy night? Civic improv? A cross-partisan paddle tournament? We’d love to support.
We’re building on the energy from festivals, the AI & Democracy Unconference, InterdepenDance Day, GoodGov LA unconference, the cross-partisan bridging movement, civic jams, and more, to help build this movement and groovement! Join us!

What is democracy anyway?
It’s a bit nuts, but still, after 250 years, we still don’t share a working definition of the foundations of our democratic republic, and even the terms are up for debate. Some say democracy, some say republic, some want to argue about which one is right. In reality we’re both, and the terms matter less than what we’re actually building together. The lack of a shared definition has pushed us off course though, so we’re drafting a framework of shared First Principles: five pillars to reflect on, align on, and guide action across party lines.

It’s a work in progress, and we’ll keep working at it until it’s something the vast majority of Americans would agree on, celebrate, sign, and defend. We’d rather hear from someone who disagrees now than defend something broken later.
